Alexandra Park Nursery

We are very excited to announce that we have lowered our age-range to take 3 and 4 year olds. This means that from September 2023 we will have a nursery class within our school. This will replace the current privately run Alexandra Park Pre-school who will cease operating on Thursday 27th July 2023.

Admission to our school nursery will be through the Local Authority following their admissions criteria and process. You can apply for a place for your child here:

If you have any queries or questions please email claire.williams@alexandraparkprimary.uk

We are currently developing our provision and will offer wrap around hours and paid sessions in addition to the funded hours provided by the Local Authority. We will update this page once we have confirmed our full offer. If your application is successful, the council will email you on 18th May 2023. After this date will contact you and arrange a full programme of settling in sessions and discuss what hours we can offer.

Further details on our ambitious and exciting plans for our school nursery are below:

We believe that by providing a school nursery to the local community we can extend our provision and have a positive impact on the pre-school education of local children. We intend to ensure that our school nursery provides the highest standards of care and education. We will utilise the extensive experience of our early years team and our high-quality environment both inside and outside, to provide an outstanding education to 3 and 4 year olds within our school.

There are many benefits to providing this provision within our school for 3 and 4 year olds. The nursery will be staffed with excellent practitioners, they will have access to our newly developed outdoor provision and access to our very successful school. Benefits include a highly skilled and experienced SENDCo who has strong relationships and networks to support all children. We are also nationally recognised for our professional development and training for staff through our EEF (Education Endowment Foundation) Research School status and position as a specialist maths school through the NCETM (National Centre for Excellence in Mathematics).

Nursery children attending Alexandra Park Primary will be part of the whole school, benefitting from all aspects of the wider school. We intend for our school nursery to provide a caring, safe and exciting place for children to learn and play. We will do this through our school values of Care, Aspire and Achieve and an excellent curriculum delivered by our exceptional staff.

Nursery children will be well-integrated into the life of the school and will therefore have a smooth transition to reception class. We will staff the nursery with a qualified teacher and skilled, experienced level 3 teaching assistants.  All staff will be part of the school's extensive, high quality training and development. The nursery staff will also run the lunchtime and wrap around provision to ensure a high quality, consistent experience for the children.

The nursery will be situated within a newly developed early years unit with ample space provided for the children including a large outdoor area and access to the reception areas when appropriate. Our early years provision is an inclusive and stimulating environment where children thrive through strong relationships with adults and peers and access the highest quality education.
