Forest School

At Alexandra Park, Forest School provides a valuable opportunity for children to learn, grow and challenge themselves in the natural environment. Through outdoor exploration, practical activities and shared experiences, children develop confidence, independence, resilience and a deeper appreciation of the world around them. Whether building dens, exploring nature, solving problems or working together on a challenge, children are encouraged to embrace new experiences, learn from mistakes and take pride in what they achieve.

Forest School brings our school values of Care, Aspire and Achieve to life. We demonstrate Care by looking after one another, respecting the natural environment and understanding the importance of working safely and responsibly. We show Aspire by encouraging children to be curious, take on challenges, explore new ideas and develop the confidence to step beyond their comfort zones. Through perseverance, teamwork and a willingness to learn, children demonstrate Achieve, celebrating their successes and recognising the progress they make along the way.

Forest School also reflects our commitment to Voice, Choice and Belonging. Children are encouraged to share their ideas, make decisions about their learning and contribute to activities in ways that reflect their individual strengths and interests. Working together outdoors creates opportunities to listen to one another, solve problems collaboratively and appreciate the different skills and perspectives each child brings.

Above all, Forest School helps children understand that learning is about more than getting things right. It is about having the courage to try, the determination to keep going and the kindness to support others. We want every child to leave each session feeling proud of what they have accomplished, more confident in their abilities and more connected to their school community and the natural world.
