The Government provides funding of £150 million per annum for primary school sport funding. This funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health and Culture, Media and Sport, and will see money going directly to primary schools to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE.

Funding for schools is calculated by the number of pupils in years 1 to 6 as collected in the annual schools census in January. In each year all schools with 17 or more primary-aged pupils will receive a lump sum of £16,000 plus a premium of £10 per pupil.  Alexandra Park Primary School received £19,610 in 2022-23 and will receive £19,650 in 2023-24.

All schools have to spend the sport funding on improving their provision of PE and sport and they have the freedom to choose how they do this. How we have spent our funding and how we intend to spend future funding is detailed in our Sports Premium Strategy.
